why Geneviève?

I have been practicing Massage Therapy since 2000, bringing people out of pain and into peace with their bodies and minds. My Massage Therapist Certification is from the Baltimore School of Massage, where I learned massage theory and technique, Eastern paradigms and contemporary Western modalities. I work with a range of humans from professional athletes to new mothers to octogenarians. I also teach simple massage techniques to those who want to be better at touching their loved ones..

why massage?

We have 2,500 sensory receptors in each square centimetre of skin. Intelligent, compassionate, well-informed touch makes the whole human endeavour a more fruitful experience. Healthy touch can help to heal everything from a sore muscle to a breaking heart. 

​We have bodies. And they have intelligence. Massage is a conversation for your body with a very good listener.

how does it work?

Your body is constantly seeking homeostasis, or balance. In massage, I engage your body's systems in a healing dance of recognition. Muscles are stretched to their full length, fascia is allowed to release toxins, and scar tissue is broken down to allow regeneration. The manipulation of the soft tissues of the body - skin, muscle, fascia, organs, and of the blood and lymph, allows the body to realign to its own best place.

You just breathe. You are kept safe, cared for, sometimes challenged, always restored.

what does it do?

Clients come to massage for myriad reasons. Often they are seeking relief from bodily discomfort. Sometimes they know that being effectively held will restore them to emotional balance. Many clients seek regular massage to maintain wellness, as part of their fierce self-care. 

Massage makes you feel younger, clears your mind, increases good nutrition to all your cells, makes you more productive, allows you to feel loved, takes away aches and pains, and replaces them with the simple pleasure of being alive.
